Final Hours of 2009

With the passing of every minute, the end to 2009 gets closer and closer.
Looking at it from a positive angle, the beginning of a brand new year gets closer too! What a year 2009 had been!
For most, it wasn’t really the best of years, no thanks to the economic recession and the H1N1 flu pandemic amongst other major happenings.
Personally, it wasn’t entirely as bad as it seemed. I was still very much gainfully employed, earning a decent income every month. Heck, I even signed up for a diploma course at PSB Academy in August!
Career and financial wise, I’m positive of a better year in 2010. Relationship wise, I’m still as clueless as anything. Well, what more can I ask for?
As I raise my glass of champagne and bid 2009 farewell, I welcome 2010 with open arms, and pray hard for a better and more successful year ahead!
To all my dearest friends and family, I thank you for a wonderful year, and look forward to bringing all of you together with me into chapter 34 of my life… God bless you!
Avatar on Boxing Day

Last evening, Lisa, Tess, Jenny and I met up in the evening to catch the blockbuster movie Avatar (in 3D) at Shaw Cineplex, Bugis. We arrived at Bugis Junction at about half past six, and proceeded for dinner first. The showtime was at 9.15pm, so we had plenty of time to eat and walk around.
The Intercontinental Hotel being so nice, we can’t help but took some photos first before we walked around the various restaurants in Bugis Junction, and end up choosing Ministry of Food as our dinner destination. The food was really commendable, but I just had to deduct points for their portion size. Overall rating: Good.
The film lasted for about 2½ hours, and to be frank, I wasn’t ready to grade it any better than the Final Destination. In fact, I thought the 3D effects for the latter was much better! Avatar has an expected story-line, and it’s probably just the special effects that made it a blockbuster. Other than that, well, it wasn’t really worth waiting for. Sorry for being too blunt, but that’s just my personal opinion.
We drove over to Geylang to have our supper, and it’s home sweet home right after. By then, it was already close to 3am. Hahaha…! I had a great day though, with them.
It’s Christmas!

It’s Christmas Day today, and may I say that this year’s Christmas was really enjoyable, made possible only with the people whom you care most, and who in turn do the same. It was just wonderful!
21st December, Monday, a group of us met up for a Christmas Gift Exchange cum Dinner at Spruce Restaurant in Tanglin Road. All seven of us, including Thomas, Beth, Lisa, Tess, Min and Jenny, spend a great evening together, and of course, the highlight of the day was the Gift Exchange. Beth, the organiser, came up with this idea of having everyone describes their gift-recipient with a thing, be it a phrase or a physical thing. Then, each of us had to guess the giver based on the descriptions. My giver described me as “heavy, round and fast” for the first round, and “sea” on the second round, before I managed to correct guess it. LOL~
End up, the giver was Min, and the first description was relating to Bowling. Second one was… I forgot! Hahaha… I guess it was something to do with thoughts as deep as the sea? LOL~
On Christmas eve, our office closed earlier. I had the privilege of organising lunch for everyone, with the help of Alex. We ordered Sarpino’s Pizza, a log cake from Délifrance, and sushi from Edo Sushi. Andy was kind enough to sponsor a roast turkey ordered from Cold Storage. We also had our gift exchange done for everyone, and some games after lunch all the way till 3pm when the office officially closed. Thanks Alex, for the help rendered, especially as the game master.
Lisa, Tess, Jenny and I decided to spend the Christmas eve together, and so, we booked a table at The Mind Cafe, Boat Quay at 7pm. We met up for dinner there, and for the rest of the day till 2am, we played a number of the games offered. It was indeed a joy to be able to spend quality and joyous time with some of your close friends, and this has really brighten up my mood a lot.
To end the post, I’ll like to wish every single one of you a Merry Christmas, and nothing but the best in 2010!
Tim Sum and Shopping @Orchard

This early afternoon, together with Zhihao and Gladys, we went down to Orchard Road to do a little Christmas shopping. First stop was at Crystal Jade Palace at Ngee Ann City for a Tim Sum lunch. After that, we drove to Heeren to park the car, and from there, began our shopping trip.
Because of a parking promotion, we bought ourselves a pair of Braziliano Praia flip-flops. With that purchase, our first three hours of parking is FREE! Hahahaha… Subsequent three hours was charged at a flat rate of $3, so we planned our time to complete everything by 8.45pm.
Next stops included Cineleisure, where we got ourselves a friendship anklet each, the new 313@Somerset, as well as the last stop at Orchard Central.
At 313@Somerset, Zhihao and I stopped over for a 30-minute dip into the fish spa at Kenko. It was the first time I tried that, and the initial tickling feeling was kinda funny. It was okay after a while… in fact, it felt a little like a massage!
Ben & Jerry’s was our last stop. We had some ice-cream before we left for the day. I got everything I wanted, including all the Christmas pressies. But I guess I left out my nephew and niece. Oppz… I guess I need to do a little more shopping over the next few days. Haahaha…!
How Old Is Your Brain?
December 17, 2009 at 11:30 | In Infotainment | Leave a CommentTags: Flash Game, How Old Is Your Brain, Memory Test
Have a little fun, and test how old exactly is your brain versus your actual age. Hahaha… I played thrice, and got a mean age of 25.7. Not too bad huh? Hehehe…
How To Play:
Click on this Link. There are a total of ten rounds. You will get to see random numbers from zero to nine, for about a second. All you need to do is to then click on the circles, from the smallest number to the biggest. As you pass each round, the number of circles will increase. Your memory power is rather important here.
At the end of the game, it will generate your “brain age”. Compare it to your actual age and see if you need to drink more tonics! Hahahaha… Have fun! =)
Pet Peeves
December 15, 2009 at 20:23 | In My Life Story | Leave a CommentTags: Pet Peeves, Ugly Singaporeans
In everyday life, there are bound to have happenings that may irritate or annoy you, and some of such occurrences are perhaps your pet peeves. So today, I’m gonna share with you some of my very own pet peeves in public places.
The Road Hoggers
It simply irritates me when a few people, likely friends, form a line side by side and hogs the pavement or road. What makes things worse is, they’re chatting away happily and strolling like they’re in the park! For crying out loud, do that in the circus will ya?!
The Confused Kiasus
This happens very often in the MRT train, especially at Boon Lay station. You will notice a few idiots deliberately standing right in front of the train door, ready to rush to the escalator when the door opens. Yes, they DID run, but the moment they reach the escalator, they stop and stand, letting it bring them down (slowly) while feeling so proud to have blocked the way of others. C’mon! Make up your mind will ya?! Are you in a rush or not?!
The Fits-Sufferers
I’ve experienced this numerous times in the movie theater. I’m unsure whether it’s just me, but I’ll always end up sitting in front of people who suffer from fits throughout the movie. Their legs just won’t stop shaking, and as they do that, I would feel as though I’m sitting on an OSIM massage chair. Thing is, it’s a fake massage chair, and I don’t feel good at all. So please… Stop shaking your bloody legs!
The Table “Choppers”
This is definitely a common scene in food courts & centers, especially in the town area. Tissues and umbrellas are used to reserve seats so the people can order their food all at once without waiting. C’mon! Are you telling me that your boss gives you exactly 30 mins to get back to office, or are you all ordering from different stalls? How long do you need to order your food? Trust me, one of these days, I’m gonna throw the tissue packs away and take over your “reserved” seats!
These ugly sights of Singaporeans can be seen everywhere, every single day, and quite frankly, I have more pet peeves in mind. But just not to be a spoil-sport this Christmas season, I’m not gonna go further. Hahaha…! So what are some of your pet peeves?
Bowling @OBTC
December 9, 2009 at 23:40 | In Bowling | Leave a CommentJust this evening, I went down to Orchid Bowl @The Chevrons with Jackson for some games of bowling. Roy joined us for the first two games, and I bowled a commendable 3-game series of 586 (174-203-209) for a 195.3 average. Not too bad, considering I haven’t been bowling for the past week due to exams. Hopefully, I will be able to do as well during the league tomorrow, if not better. Hehehe… =P
Exams Are Over!
December 8, 2009 at 17:17 | In My Life Story | Leave a CommentTags: Exams, John Grisham, The Appeal
Exams are finally over! Hahaha… But just out of sheer consolation that is. In reality, that’s just two papers out of ten modules, and quite frankly, they’re the easiest modules. LOL~ Like they said, the worst has yet to come… =P
Unexpectedly, the Quantitative Skills paper was easier than I thought, and it took me exactly one hour to finish the required five questions (we were given three hours), and another ten minutes to check through all my answers. I’m praying that my answers matched the ones in the answer sheet, and an ‘A’ grade would be in the bag. God bless.
On a side note, I have also finished reading a fiction novel authored by John Grisham, entitled The Appeal. It’s really a great book that talked about the judicial system in the United States, and how it could be manipulated by the rich and famous to their favor. Read it, and you’ll be hooked to it right to the end. My rating for the book is 4 out of 5. Excellent piece of work indeed, and highly recommended!
Well, it’s back to work tomorrow, and the first lesson of our next module next Thursday before we take a long break till mid-January 2010 when the next lesson proper starts. All the best to me! =)
Team Singapore Retains Gold!
December 7, 2009 at 17:26 | In Infotainment | Leave a CommentTags: SEA Games 2009, Team Singapore, Water Polo
The Singapore National Water Polo Team has done it yet again! For the 23rd consecutive time since 1965, they will bring back the Gold medal for the nation, and with this, deliver the first Gold medal for this SEA Games. Kudos to the boys!
This year saw only four nations participating in this sport, where apart from Singapore, the others include Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia. Team Singapore beat all three opposing teams, with the latest win against the Thais for a 8-5 victory.
What a way to start the Games rolling, and we will be expecting more Golds from the Singapore team when the competitions kick in from the 9th of this month.
25th SEA Games
December 6, 2009 at 16:40 | In Infotainment | Leave a CommentTags: 25th SEA Games, Laos, SEA Games 2009, Team Singapore, Vientiane
The 25th Southeast Asian Games will officially commence next week on 9th December in Vientiane, Laos, and will continue through to 18th December. As with most of such international Games, a few of the team sports have already started, including football and water polo. So far, the Singapore national water polo boys have won both of their matches against Indonesia and Philippines, with scores of 14-5 and 8-1 respectively. Well done Team Singapore!
I’m quite sure the Singapore contingent will be pushing themselves hard in sports such as swimming, shooting and table tennis, which they’re traditionally strong in.
In the 2007 SEA Games in Korat, Thailand, Team Singapore came home with 43 gold medals. With only 28 sports being competed this year against 43 in Thailand, how many gold medals will we be able to deliver? Make a guess! =P
